At the summertime vacation beach cottage that you may well find that you are both using the combination and combinations of both electrical power and natural gas or propane as well , both at the same time at your summertime vacation retreat or side by side. Avoid injuries to yourself, your family and your cottage or summertime camp recreational guests. Use electrical, natural gas, propane gas power and heat all together safely. Avoid injures. Play it safe.
While it is more than true that we all have grown and gotten more than used to the benefits and convenience of electrical power and natural gas , we often and rarely take the time to find out if we are using them safely.
For example – have you ever used a metal fork to remove bread or a bun from an electric toaster? Have you ever turned on the garbage disposal (garborator), without fully drying your hands – with a dry towel or the like? It’s famous in the TV shows that people are too lazy to take the time to safely pull out an electrical cord properly by grasping the electrical power plug and rather take the easy way out and simply yank on the cord, some distance from the electrical plug itself.
By carelessly doing the above you may well have put yourself, your family or guests at menace and in peril if the above were done in the presence of natural gas or propane at the beach or lake cottage. Both natural gas and more commonly propane may well be a convenience at the lake cottage. Beach cottages are now often luxury retreats – complete with hot water (often from natural gas or propane hot water tank or tanks). Summer Camps Give Students the Confidence They Need to be Successful

Campers come out of our programs sparkling with confidence because they’ve come face to face with their own success. We don’t leave it to chance, belief, or wishful thinking. We let them experience for themselves just how good they are. We build in opportunities for them to succeed. They don’t just believe they can be successful, they know it – because they’ve done it.
Teens shouldn’t have to miss out on achievements because they’re afraid they’ll fail. They’re afraid to find out they can’t do something. They tell themselves, “As soon as I feel good enough about myself, I’ll try something big. ” But what we’ve found by working with teens is that self-confidence works exactly the opposite way. It comes from going after something aggressively – and achieving it. It’s a matter of starting small, of going for little successes and building from there.
Campers break through the self-confidence barrier over and over again with the help of what we call the Success Model. We use this strategy throughout our programs, not just for academics but for life skills, attitude – you name it. Campers first experience small private successes, then work their way up to giant public ones. All along the way, they’re building on what they know they can do – with the help of lots of repetition and practice. We rehearse for success. They use the energy of their previous success to catapult them into the next.
For instance, when we work through memorization skills, the first things we do are large-group callouts where they can stay anonymous if they’re afraid they don’t know the answer. It’s very safe. Next we practice in small groups or pairs, leading up to individual performance which can be a teen speaking or performing alone in front of the group, or in some cases the individual performance of taking a test. Where they fear to go in one giant step, they can go with confidence in a series of small steps, each built on the foundation of a previous success.
We love it when we get letters from summer camp graduates about their academic breakthroughs. They understand and remember a lot more, their grades have improved, and their SAT and college entrance scores have gone up. These are some of the end results of a process that begins with the way they think about themselves. We hold these truths to be self-evident: Every person is a capable learner, people learn in different ways, and learning happens best in a fun, engaging, and challenging environment.
To get these principles firmly in mind, teens learn their ABCs:
A is for Attitude: What we tell our minds about something in advance will affect the outcome. When young people approach their education from a “This Is It!” mindset and have an insatiable curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, they can learn just about anything. A “bring it on!” attitude makes learning easier.
B is for Belief: What we believe about our abilities affects our performance. If a person believes she’s a poor learner, guess what? Her belief will be a self-fulfilling prophecy. But if she decides to tell herself, “I’m a good learner and I’m getting better every day,” her ability to learn goes up. We all have the power to choose our beliefs – those who choose empowering can-do beliefs are much more likely to reach their goals.
C is for Commitment: There’s awesome power in making a commitment. Once people lock on to a particular goal or course of action, they discover resources they didn’t know they had. When they make a commitment to learning, their energies shift. It’s like a giant lens that suddenly comes into focus.

What To Pack For Summer Camp

More than just a place to spend summer vacations, summer camp is a fun place where a child can learn to be more independent, create new friendships and develop new skills. Summer camps are also credited for fostering a sense of teamwork in children and teaching children how to appreciate nature and outdoor sports – especially in a generation where fun usually means playing computer games or surfing the internet. Summer camps usually last for two to four weeks, depending on the camp activities. From choosing the perfect camp to packing your child’s gear for camp, parents have a major role in ensuring a successful and memorable camp experience for their children. And as in most things in life, preparation is key – especially in packing your child’s gear. Here are some useful tips and pointers to remember before sending your kids to camp. First step would be to create a packing list. Summer camps usually send a recommended list of packing essentials. Make sure that you include all the things on this official list in your kids’ gear. They are there for a reason. Pack early. Start shopping for camp essentials as soon as you get the recommended list of things to bring from the camp. Procrastination won’t do you any good. Packing several days (or even weeks, if possible) will help you avoid stressful last minute shopping trips. It will also save you the trouble of scrambling to find his/her favorite shirt and jammies at the last minute. Don’t forget to pack appropriate medications. While most camps have clinics and first aid stations, it is still very important to pack your child’s prescribed medications. It is also best practice to include the phone/contact number of the physician in case the prescription is lost and needs to be refilled by the camp staff. Pack an extra pillow case. Despite reminders from camp staff that the facility has sufficient pillow cases, it might be best to pack an extra pillow case. Most camp kids complain that pillows and cases provided by the camp are notoriously grungy. Also, it is more hygienic for your kids to use their own pillow cases, at the very least. Pack an appropriate number of clothes, keeping in mind the duration of the camp. In general, laundry is done once a week in camps. Make sure that your child will have enough shirts, jeans, underwear, pajamas and other clothing essentials even if laundry is done only once every week. Safety at the Summer Vacation Beach Cottage – Use Electrical , Propane

At the summertime vacation beach cottage that you may well find that you are both using the combination and combinations of both electrical power and natural gas or propane as well , both at the same time at your summertime vacation retreat or side by side. Avoid injuries to yourself, your family and your cottage or summertime camp recreational guests. Use electrical, natural gas, propane gas power and heat all together safely. Avoid injures. Play it safe.
While it is more than true that we all have grown and gotten more than used to the benefits and convenience of electrical power and natural gas , we often and rarely take the time to find out if we are using them safely.
For example – have you ever used a metal fork to remove bread or a bun from an electric toaster? Have you ever turned on the garbage disposal (garborator), without fully drying your hands – with a dry towel or the like? It’s famous in the TV shows that people are too lazy to take the time to safely pull out an electrical cord properly by grasping the electrical power plug and rather take the easy way out and simply yank on the cord, some distance from the electrical plug itself.
By carelessly doing the above you may well have put yourself, your family or guests at menace and in peril if the above were done in the presence of natural gas or propane at the beach or lake cottage. Both natural gas and more commonly propane may well be a convenience at the lake cottage. Beach cottages are now often luxury retreats – complete with hot water (often from natural gas or propane hot water tank or tanks). While these appliances are feverishly working away to heat your hot water – whether for standard hot water for dishes or the bath , or more commonly now than before for luxury items such as hot tubs or gas barbecues – they may be silently or not so silently be spewing out natural gas or propane as well . A gas stove is more obvious as a potential site where a simple electrical spark from careless may serve as an ignition source and start. It’s not as obvious with the others – be it a gas water tank or barbecue but the results are all the same.
What to do? First of all play it safe electrically. Work best to prevent needless electrical sparks which could serve as ignition sources for natural gas and propane. Next never store flammable as well as potentially flammable materials around natural gas or propane furnaces or hot water tanks and devices.
Lastly in addition to standard routine inspections by either the electrical , gas or power utility trained people and personnel one afterthought to think of are to provide for carbon monoxide detectors as well as yearly battery checks and replacements. Carbon monoxide poisoning might not be such a consideration in a breezy summer vacation cottage.
