Hunting Guns for the Hunting Season
Dec/090
Sales of black powder guns increase three-folds during the hunting season. There are things to consider when buying guns and safety should always be on top of your hunting activities.
Black powder guns or muzzleloaders are very different from the ones being used today. Guns presently use bullets and cartridges. Black powder guns are loaded with black powder made of potassium nitrate, carbon, powdered sulfur, water, water and denatured alcohol. They are typically used for accurate and long distance shots, and are very good for hunting.
History will tell you that the Chinese were credited for coming up with this type while experimenting on explosives that can be used in their rituals and ceremonies. There are a number of factors that may affect the mechanism of these guns. These include ignition system, choke, shot charge, propellant, over-powder ward, and configuration.
There are some shops that can assist you for the selection of your hunting guns. These shops can either be online or over the counter. Seldom would you see suppliers that stock firearms and black powder. This is due to the restrictions by the federal law. USA classifies real black powder as explosives so retailers and dealers are asked to initially get a special permit before they can sell or even stock them.
Although black powder guns do not fire fixed ammunition, they are not restricted by any federal law. However, there are some states that restrict direct selling, like New York, Michigan, Massachusetts, Illinois, and Hawaii. Therefore one should find a dealer to act as a middle agent.
Here’s what you can do to get your hunting gun online. First, fill out a form for your firearm purchase. Find a shop with a current Federal Firearms License (FFL). Upon receipt of your order confirmation online, include the dealer’s contact information in the comments box.
Go to your chosen dealer and tell them you would like to transfer a firearm from an online shop. The dealer, of course, will charge you a minimal fee for the transfer.
Print and fill out the FFL transfer form and have the dealer fax or mail it to the shop. Have the dealer sign the transfer form. Be sure to include the order number and the dealer’s license number before sending or faxing the document.
The shop will then do the shipment once they have received the dealer’s signed FFL and their FFL transfer form. You should receive a tracking number. In the process, the dealer will make the necessary background check. After you accomplish all the paper works, your dealer will tell you when you can pick up the order.
To avoid all inconveniences, buying guns can also be done over the counter. There are dealers licensed to sell guns and its accessories. Here are some of them:
Middleboro Gun Shop
This is located at 194 East Grove St Middleboro Massachusetts. The store is open from 9am to 5pm eastern time, Mondays to Fridays, except on Thursdays when they close a bit later at around 7pm. The shop has a gun product line including pistols, revolvers, shotguns and black powder guns. They also have ammunitions, speed loaders, magazines, holsters and other accessories. It offers firearms safety classes including types of firearms, safe handling and regulations and laws in different states.
The shop also provides cleaning and repair services. Store policies include 50% on special orders, cash transactions for all gun transfers and consignments; plus, a minimum $25 purchase using a credit card.
Nagels Gun Shop
This is found along San Pedro Avenue in San Antonio, Texas. They have a variety of product lines including firearms, knives, reloading equipment, clothing, optics and ammunition along with firearm cleaning equipments, maps and safes. The store operates from 9am to 6pm, all day except Sundays. The shop has gunsmiths to cater repairs and cleaning services. They also give warranty repairs on Winchester, Remington and Browning.
Cabela’s World’s Foremost Outfitter
The shop offers quality outdoor merchandises in areas of archery, fishing, boating, camping and hunting. Hunting goods include firearms, ammunition, survival navigation, decoy, lights, knives and tools along with black powder guns, accessories, books, outfitters camp and hunting apparels. The retail stores in Texas are located along Cabela Drive in Fort Worth, Texas. This retail store features a product line together with educational and entertainment attractions including a museum, aquarium and trophy animals. They are open Mondays until Saturdays, from 9am to 9pm, central time. On Sundays, they are open from 9am to 7pm. 3 Season Camping Tents for the Regular Joe and Jane
Dec/090
If you’re like me, you would love to get out and camp more then the last time you did, a few years ago. Many things stop us from making the time in our busy lives to enjoy the truly great outdoors. We will always have an excuse as to why we don’t, so lets address them, one article at a time. Lets look at the terms first, 3 season simply means it’s made for hot to mild temperatures and mild to medium weather (wind and rain). Spring summer and fall fit into those categories nicely, hence 3 season. 4 season means it’s made for warm to cold, even freezing, temperatures and heavy to severe weather (snow and high winds). Add winter to the list and you have a very rugged tent. Chances are if you’re not battling high winds every other weekend in the mountains you won’t need a 4 season tent. Here is the basic set up of a 3 season camping tent. There are 2 “walls”; the fly is considered the first or outermost layer or wall. The material itself or a chemical coating usually waterproofs it. The fly is your first line of protection from the elements so remember to take care of it. The second layer is the tent body, which uses meshing as the walls and roof material in most cases. The floor of the body is also a waterproof material, usually equal or higher grade then the fly because it gets more abuse and may sit in water. Wondering why the tent body is made mostly of meshing? Ventilation is king in 3 season tents. The fly doesn’t go all the way to the ground to allow airflow along all the edges, it’s also removable so you can be fully open if need be. On clear warm nights you can take the fly off and look up at the stars, and be protected from all insects that love to interrupt those moments. There are also vents in the fly near the top because heat does rise and won’t leave the tent under the fly until your sweating. This meshing also makes the tent much more lighter then a solid wall tent, which is great for carrying from the car or backpacking on an overnight hike. You will find many 3 season camping tents in the superlight and ultra light categories mostly because of the meshing. Pole construction and fly materials also make a huge contribution to weight which is why the lighter the tent the more expensive it can get, not always though. The last point to make here is easy set up. There aren’t as many poles, and tie downs used when setting up a mid-sized 3 season camping tent compared to a 4 season. That being said there is a different ease of setup between manufacturers and even their own models.

Outdoor Cooking Equipment, 20 Tips: Getting Things Right For The Coming Bbq Season
Dec/090
Some people just love eating and some people just love cooking; but when it comes to cooking and eating outside most people say, hey, I love it; but having the right outdoor cooking equipment is essentialSo lets get to it. Summer will soon be upon us and the outdoor season beckons. Its now the ideal time to think about those barbecues you’ll be having. Whether those meals will be on the patio or in the outback its now the time to ensure that you’ve got all your outdoor cooking equipment to hand and that you’ve got a good idea about how best to go about things. Outdoor cooking comes in many guises. You and your family may prefer to use wood or charcoal because of those wonderful flavours that come from the charcoal and the smoke; or, you may prefer the cleanliness, control and convenience of cooking with propane gas. Whatever you prefer the market is now awash with great outdoor cooking equipment to make your cooking experience enjoyable and the results fabulous. Now when it comes to choosing your outdoor cooking equipment a little thought is necessary as you can easily miss a trick or two and fall short when the time comes to perform! So, here are 20 great tips to help you make the right decisions when planning this season’s outdoor cooking: Firstly you must decide will it be gas or charcoal; don’t fudge this one as its important; if you want ease and convenience go for gas grills; if you don’t mind a little extra trouble & time and your family loves the flavours that are picked up from the smoke then go for charcoal; If you go for charcoal always start the fire naturally, never use lighter fuels; let me say that again, never use lighter fuels! Why? Because no matter how long it is before you bring your food to the grill you’ll pick up those chemical smells. . . Yuk!; Ask yourself, are you making an investment for the future of just for the coming summer season; because thats how long cheap ’stuff’ is going to last! I recommend making an investment in the future, therefore go for quality; as you know in your heart, you pay for what you get! Don’t go cheap if you can afford better; for example: stainless steel looks better and lasts longer than aluminium and cleans up much better and easier; although it has to be said heat distributes more evenly and quickly with aluminium so the arguments are not always so clear cut; portable pick up and go grills are going to be great for tailgating and inpromtu stops but they’ll be a disappointment on the patio when cooking for a group of friends & family; There are many styles & sizes of outdoor grills, picking the right one to meet your needs and of course your budget is important, but remember that quality counts; you don’t want to be regretting your purchase half way through the summer! Go for the best you can; we recommend Bayou Classic as their product quality and the value for money is exceptional; take a look at the outdoor cooking equipment store as the prices are great there Think about where you’re going to be doing your cooking and buy your kit appropriately. Ask yourself, will we be cooking on the patio, or will you be tailgating or then again will we be going outback; this makes a big difference to your choice of kit; indeed you may decide that you need quite separate cooking equipment for the patio as opposed to when you’re getting out and about. Gas grills are heavier and bulkier than charcoal, on the patio that’s a bonus in the outback its a chore; gas barbeque grills cook quicker than the charcoal grills; some people hate gas grills by comparison because they love the flavors that wood bestows; gas grills are more expensive than charcoal ones etc. etc. Decide what style of cooking best suits you because the kit you’ll need will change with your preferred style of cooking. If you’re into Jambalaya cooking then you should buy Jambalaya pots, if your going to be frying whole turkeys then a turkey fryer kit will be ideal; do you prefer cast iron stove ware for cooking, Dutch ovens are great for simple outdoor cooking or do you prefer open grills;? The questions go on and on and only you know what the family are going to prefer. Its not as hard to think things through as you might think, I suggest that you go to a store that sells the full range of equipment and ask yourself what’s going to work best for us? When cooking with propane check the level of gaz in the cylinder and whenever possible have a second one in reserve. There’s nothing worse with friends and family hovering, the meal is half ready and the gaz goes out!!! If you’ve a replacement, no problem, but if you’ve not, just how bad can things get? Don’t forget basic safety advice when cooking outdoors; remember salmonella is just as happy and active outdoors as it is inside. So what to do? Keep those fresh meat plates and your cooking utensils away from any plates and cooking utensils that you’ll be using for eating off. Yes i know its obvious but this is important and its easily forgotten especially by the kids if they take a hand; Will you betaking your cooking kit out in the outback or to the beach where there are safety regulations preventing the use of certain cooking methods; how annoying is it to arrive and then find your kit isn’t appropriate. And don’t think you’ll be okay they’ll never know. have you seen the recent damage that’s been caused by fires that get out of control; think safety first. Its important to remember that usually you find restrictions at picnic areas and on beaches & camping zones; When you find a great recipe that cooks well outside share it with family; especially the simple tips that made it work out so well. Many people are apprehensive about cooking out doors and even when they do they make simple errors that you could help them avoid making. Simple tips need passing on; Never pierce food on a BBQ or the juices will run out and it will dry out very quickly: most people who say they don’t like BBQs do so because they hate dried out tasteless food that so often arises from a smoldering BBQ Never cook meat too long as again it dries out Always make sure that meat is fully defrosted before starting cooking on your grill, not only is this dangerous to your health but the food will burn on the outside before you’ve cooked it in the inside! Try to cook slower rather than faster when cooking outdoors, except with you steaks of course, they need searing and a minimum of time is preferred for however well you like them cooked; [yes I know this goes against what conventional wisdom says and your desire to tuck ij but the rewards of slower cooked foods great exceed the extra time it takes; believe me Always let your meat rest after cooking without cutting it up. This allows the juices to settle and the full flavour to come out, it also means all the juices don't run away across the serving plate; 7-10 minutes is all you need to wait and whilst the time is short the difference in flavour can be huge; try it. Try marinating your meats before barbecuing, and remember, the longer the better, overnight if you can. If you do the flavors of your cooking will be greatly enhanced and your friends will marvel; If you use a grill with a lid, keep it closed as much as possible. This improves the consistency of cooking due to the retention of the heat which otherwise is lost each time you open the grill; stop worrying and go and have a chat; Try some of the many free recipes you'll find online; there are so many and some are really good. Don't get hooked on complication though; keeping things simple and experiment are the keys. But equally don't get into the ideas of those that say quick and easy is best go for things that cook quickly! NO. Marinades are simple and add tremendous flavour, cook slower than quickly and you'll retain more flavours; Try out Dutch cooking; its easy and straightforward and the flavors are great; look for Dutch cooking recipes on the web; Keep your outdoor cooking fun; share the joy of the cooking with friends & family. Try to get the kids involved; if you do you'll develop in them a lifetime passion for cooking, which is often hard to do in the kitchen. Better still you'll have a laugh and if you involve your friends you'll start appreciate them in totally different ways than before; its like a new way of bonding. You'll start to see them in a totally different light. . . . . . interesting! . . . Oh, just one quick point, but take care the opposite can work out too. Check out the latest outdoor cooking kit at the outdoor cooking equipment store; you'll find a wide range of outdoor cooking equipment meeting all levels of budget and there's a long list of really tasty, simply to cook recipes, ideal for the grill, for the stove, for the boiling pot, for the fryer or for the Dutch oven; its your choice. Happy outdoor cooking and good luck getting your outdoor cooking equipment into shape.

Hawaii Prepares for Tropical Storm Season
Dec/090
Although hurricanes are rare in Hawaii, their season is from June to November. They often result in tropical storms which can cause damage, power outages and flooding. Hawaii residents have learned, when a storm warning is in effect it pays to be ready. With the looming threat of Hurricane Felicia, island retailers are already noticing increased sales as people prepare for a possible storm. City Mill in Kaimuki, has filled over 100 gallons of propane in the last couple days. Orders for bottled water have doubled at Menehune Water Co. Purchases of tarps, batteries, flashlights. hand-crank radios, cell phone chargers, lanterns, generators and other emergency items have also increased. Whether or not Felicia is reduced to a tropical storm, a system this strong can still bring heavy rainfall and flooding. The potential for power outages, road closures or mud slides is highly possible. In addition to stocking up on emergency items, develop an emergency plan. If you are trapped by a storm, know where you will take shelter, and familiarize yourself with local evacuation routes. Help may not come right away, ensure you have at least 3 days of supplies to keep you going. This should also include a system to keep your living area sanitary, deal with waste and garbage and provide warmth. Don’t forget to include games or playing cards to keep the family occupied. In any type of disaster, a little knowledge goes a long way. Know what you are up against. Understand the weather terms that you hear on the news so that you have an idea of the type of storm that is being predicted and what types of precautions you need to take. Here are some of the more common terms we hear all the time: Storm TermsTropical Depression: A storm system with 38 mph sustained winds or less. (*sustained winds average one minute in length and measured at least 33 feet above the surface) Tropical Storm: A storm system of sustained winds of 39-73 mph accompanied by strong thunderstorms. Hurricane: Similar to a tropical storm, with sustained winds of 74 mph or higher. Hurricanes are rated on a scale from 1-5:#1 – 74-95 mph winds with possible damage to unanchored mobile homes, signs and vegetation. #2 – 96-110 mpg winds with moderate damage to all mobile homes, roofs, small boats, and accompanied by flooding. #3 – 111-130 mph winds with extensive damage to small buildings. Possibility of roads being cut off. #4 – 131-155 mph winds with extreme damage or destruction to roofs, trees, roads, mobile homes and beach flooding. #5 – over 155 mph winds with catastrophic damage to buildings, vegetation, roads and home flooding. Ground High Camp Tent 3-Person 4 Season Yellow/Black, One Size
Ground High Camp Tent 3-Person 4 Season Yellow/Black, One Size
The Key to a Successful Camping Season is the Same as the Boy Scout Motto: “be Prepared.”
Dec/090
Camping season is a time for exploring the great outdoors, connecting with family and friends, and truly enjoying the natural world. Whether one is a first timer or an experienced camper, there is always something new to learn and experience. While camping season used to be associated only with summer months, there are many opportunities to enjoy camping throughout the year. The key to a successful camping season is the same as the Boy Scout motto: âBe prepared. â
There are as many ways to camp as there are people who want to camp. For those who prefer a true backwoods adventure, the combination of hiking and backpacking with their camping experience requires a different type of equipment and preparation than those who choose to drive to a state forest or private campground. Certain types of equipment are vital, no matter what style of camping is preferred.
First, even the most intrepid camper needs to sleep! A sturdy sleeping bag is most campersâ choice; sleeping bags are designed to accommodate different temperature requirements from lightweight bags for summer camping to below zero âmummy bagsâ for mid-winter adventures. But a sleeping bag is not really enough for a good nightâs sleep-the ground is a hard mattress!
The wise outdoorsman will choose to put something between his back and the ground. In this, as with sleeping bags, there are a variety of options to choose from, depending on the type of camping. The lightest weight and most portable choice is a simple foam camping pad which weighs less than a pound. For a backpacker, this is a good choice. However, someone who is using his car or truck as transportation may choose an air mattress or even a portable cot!
Cooking is another essential element for every type of camping. While the traditional image of cooking over an open fire may be considered part of the ultimate camping experience, many factors make campfire cooking a less desirable option. Modern camping stoves are lightweight and offer more flexibility than a fire. A good camp stove can boil a quart of water in less than 4 minutes; yet it weighs less than 2 pounds!
Once the heat source is decided on, cookware must be selected. Again, choices are nearly limitless! The simplest choice is a stick for grilling hot dogs or marshmallows, but this isnât a practical choice for a hungry camper. Outdoor cookware sets are nearly as extensive as those a gourmet chef uses. One of the lightest choices is a set which features multi-purpose components made of sturdy stainless steel, ideal for a hiking trip. Other styles of cookware include cast iron dutch ovens, grills, bake ware, and even woks.
Beyond the necessities and preparation for camping, the underlying joy of camping season is the same for all campers. Camping season, whether it is a New England summer, a southwestern fall, or an Alaskan winter, gives people an escape from their daily lives. It represents a connection with the natural world that is usually lost in worlds of skyscrapers, highways, and mundane responsibilities. The rat race is suspended on a camping trip, replaced by long walks, canoe rides, relaxing around a campfire or a myriad of other activities.
Everyone finds something special about camping. People of all ages and abilities have the opportunity to refresh and recharge themselves; it doesnât matter if one hikes the back country or drives an RV into campground. By choosing to visit where they must adopt new behaviors and conform to different rules, campers create a new world for themselves each trip. For them, camping season is never ending.

Whether you’re a first time camper or a regular outdoors weekend warrior, we have what you need. If you’re going to sleep in a tent you may need sleeping bags, cots, flashlights, heaters, and bug repellent, we have it. If you’re going to cook, don’t use your good pots and pans. To truly enjoy the outdoor cooking experience, purchase outdoor cookware. Our cookware is made and designed to be use on an open fire or camp stove. Now, if you’re out in the woods and or at a good camp ground, don’t forget some camp furniture.
