Sure it would be great to own a home. A place where you can make a huge garden, build a green house, put up solar panels and all that, but for some of us that’s just not practical. I imagine some people might give up on preparedness just because they live in a condo but that’s not the answer. The answer is to be as prepared as possible using what tools you have available. If you live in an apartment you can still buy food. If you don’t have space, you can always rent a storage locker. Heck, I might do that anyway. It’s a good idea not to have all your eggs in one basket.

What to take on a camping trip to be prepared

Planning on getting back to nature for an enjoyable camping trip? This guide tells you what you need to bring to make sure you’re prepared. The type of camping gear you will need will depend somewhat on what type of terrain and climate you will be camping in. However, this list will cover the basics for any type of camping trip. First, be sure to bring lanterns and flashlights. You can’t have too many of these! For long camping trips, pack extra batteries. Next, bring plenty of lighters and matches. Candles are optional depending on how “natural” you want to be. For cooking, bring a camping stove, dutch oven, or other similar items. Whatever will make the most sense for the type of cooking you will be doing. This one is important. Bring plenty of fresh water. You can never have enough of this. If you will be near a water source, water purification tablets or a portable purifier can be a lifesaver!Bring plenty of food as well. It’s better to have more than you need rather than running out. Along with the cooking equipment, bring anything else you would need to prepare the food. Don’t forget the can opener! Paper plates, cups, napkins, and trash bags are vital. Tents, sleeping bags, blankets, and plastic sheeting or tarps should be included with your gear. Don’t forget pillows and air mattresses if you don’t like sleeping on the hard ground. Bring a first aid kit with antibiotic ointment, bandages, alcohol, and other related items. Don’t forget bug spray and sunscreen. Remembering toilet paper and possibly a portable toilet is important. Moist towlettes or baby wipes are also useful. Bring soap, shampoo, toothpaste and other toiletries you will want to use. Include some tools. A swiss army knife or leatherman tool for starters. Hammers, axes, shovels are helpful as well. Other items you should think about take on a camping trip are binoculars, camping chairs and folding tables, rope or twine, towels and washcloths, and last but not least, backpacks. This may sound like a lot of stuff to pack, but if you are smart about it and keep it organized, it won’t take up too much space and you will be so glad you were prepared when you get back to nature. Preparation will make your camping trip a success!

Make Sure You’re Prepared When You Go Camping

When I was a child I used to go camping with my dad. I have very fond memories of our camping trips. My dad and I would take our tent, sleeping bags, and fishing poles and head down the local lake for a camping trip. Camping is an excellent activity for the whole family. On the other hand it can become a disaster if you do not prepare or don’t know what to expect.
If you’re not experienced a camping the best place to start is probably with a commercial campground. These campgrounds are sometimes listed in the Yellow Pages. They don’t cost very much and usually of showers, bathrooms, and electrical hookups, and running water. Commercial campgrounds also usually have activities for the whole family which include summing pools, hiking trails, paddle boats and fishing lakes.
Once you get some experience with camping you may then decide that you want to rough it out in the woods on your own.
Regardless of where you decide to go camping it is very important that you are prepared. Here’s a list of some things you should consider to make sure that you’re prepared for an enjoyable camping trip.
Camping inventory
1. One of the most important things you will need is a tent. You can find tents in various sizes depending on a number of people in your family.
2. Sleeping bags and an air mattress if needed.
3. Flashlights with plenty of extra batteries.
4. Matches
5. Because you’ll be cooking on an open fire make sure that you bring some old cookware. You can also purchase camping cookware sets.
6. Firewood. If you are not camping at an established commercial campground you may need to bring your own firewood.
7. First aid kit. This is a given.
8. Drinking water
9. Trash bags. Regardless of where you decide to go camping one of the most important things is that you leave the area just as he found it. Pick up your trash and take everything with you that you brought. Don’t ruin the experience for the next person.
Camping can be a wonderful activity for the whole family. By taking a little time to prepare for the unexpected you will ensure a great time for your family.
