The only propane place near where I live (which is in Kentucky) requires all propane purchases to be paid for up front and delivery will follow within 7 days.
Well, unfortunately, I ran out of propane before the delivery was made. I’m on my second day with no heat other than one electric heater in my bedroom. The weather here has been between 14-20 degrees F during the day and far, far less at night. Needless to say, it’s freaking cold here!!!
I’ve called the propane company the day after I ran out of gas and was politely brushed off. I called again today and the lady rudely informed me that it would be Friday the 23rd (day 7) before I would get any gas, even though I told her I had absolutely none left and had only the one heater in my bedroom.
A friend said in her state, propane places are required to deliver the same day if the buyer has no gas and no other way to heat the entire house if the temperature is below freezing (32 F).
Is there a law like this in Kentucky? I really hope so because when the laundry detergent starts freezing, I start to panic a little.
And no, staying in a hotel is not an option because I spent all my extra money on buying propane. I also do not have anyone locally who could house me (or my two cats) until Friday.
And yes, when warm weather comes, I’m investing in an alternate heating source… Solar power, central heat/air, a wood burning stove, ANYTHING that gets me away from propane.
