Roasted weiners over gas stove?

Hi community members,
On occasion I like roasted wieners especially over camp fires. My question is: can I do this over the gas stove & would it cause any ill effects? Thanks I’ll return what I think is the best answer. Have a good night. :0)
older then dirt & still thinks I am kid, then can add chili,onions, pickles, kraut, ketchup after done roasting.

You could, but if it drips it could make a mess of your burner.

Your question made me laugh because as a kid we used to do this on the stove all the time. I finally got a gas stove a few years ago and roasting a hot dog over the flames was one of the first things that I did! Still tastes great! The only ill effect that I know of is the one you will get if you don’t use a fork or something with a wooden handle to hold the dog, burnt fingers! You may also want to cut the vent on.
