I did not buy this tent from Amazon, but another site. . . still, I feel compelled to warn people.

I bought this tent for a family of four with two dogs attending as well thinking it would give us all some privacy as well as some space in case it rained. . . ( as it always seems to do when we go camping). While this tent shows that it sleeps 14, that is only in mummy bags directly on the ground. One sleeping quarter gives you room for a queen size inflatable mattress with enough room at the end to stand in and change your clothes. The other two hold a twin size inflatable and space for a suitcase at the foot. . . You cannot stand in those quarters as the ceiling is angled. The majority of the floor is the inner section where there are no sleeping cabins ( unless they are sleeping with the bugs. . . more on that later.

If you are going to buy this tent also know that not many campgrounds can accomodate a tent of this size. . . check out the square feet of the floor on this thing. I think it’s 23 feet by 27 feet! We had to get special permission to place our tent in an area that was not permitted because the tent would not fit on a regular camping space. When it was up the ranger told us it’s the biggest tent he’s seen in years and not to bring it again as they cannot guarantee they can allow us to set it up there again.

First, I’d like to say that 4 people cannot put this tent up by themselves. It comes with virtually NO instructions. After three hours and constant screaming at each other over who was supposed to hold what poles (and each of us were holding up to 4 poles at a time), we had a tent that was now an open shell with a dirt floor. Normally you set up a tent with the bottom being the guide for the outside sections, but with no bottom, this tent is virtually impossible to set up at the proper angles so that the inner tents ( which hang with toggles from the ceiling of the tent) will fit properly. it has “straps that go from main corner to corner but they are “adjustable” . . so it’s not really giving you any guidance.

The center “Tub style floor” as they call it is literally a drop sheet with toggles on the corners to hold it in place. Again, if your tent is not set up perfectly the floor wont’ fit in as there isn’t much of a give from the corner toggles and that “tub” is a maybe 4 inch side section which lays flat since again, the tent cannot be setup at proper angles. We spent hours moving poles and adjusting it so that it all fit, until finally we were still adjusting it in the dark.

Also note the number of rope tie downs and ground stakes. . . While it doesnt’ say so in the listing there are over 40 ropes and 80 stakes. The ropes are vitually everywhere also increasing the ground area you need in order to set this thing up!

Of course it also rained. . . and the “guaranteed” weatherproof tent leaked. . . and leaked, even in the sleeping quarters, it leaked through one ceiling onto the next inner tub and directly onto my forehead in the middle of the night. The river of water we watched go through the center of our tent was the final straw. The sleeping section floors did not leak, only overhead so I guess that could be a good thing.

We left a day early, our tent was full of spiders, slugs, and ever other assorted bugs you could think of and we swore we’d never put that tent up again. You’ll find mine in a yard sale at a substantial discount as the manufacturer was unwilling to do anything about their guarantee, asking for photos to prove we set it up right and then never responding again, [. . . ].

I have camped every year since I was a baby. . . 38 years later, I know how to setup a tent and will go for a tent from a well known manufacturer with a FLOOR and a guarantee that I know I can rely on.
